The Pardon family has been making Beaujolais for six generations; the current one is represented by two brothers - Jean-Marc and Eric. Their wines are consistent medal winners; most recently Medaille d'Or for Moulin à Vent 2002 and Medaille d'Argent for Fleurie 2003. The brothers pride themselves on using only traditional viticultural and vinification methods. The vendange is carried out by hand and the vines in one particular vineyard in Fleurie are an impressive 105 years old. Please note that the Beaujolais Villages, though not labelled as such, is actually a blend from Brouilly and Régnié AC vineyards. In addition to their Crus Beaujolais, Pardon et Fils also produce a delightful Pouilly Fuissé from the Domaine de Bel Air as well as two traditional Mâcon wines from the Domaine Grison and Château des Thinons. Outstanding wines with true goût de terroir, the Château des Thinons is so rich and complex you could be forgiven for thinking it had been laced with Pinot Noir! It is 100% Gamay, proving once again that everything is in the terroir.
