The Loire The Loire covers some 600 miles of France and consequently has great variations of soil and climate as well as a good number of different grape varieties. Accordingly, careful selection is always required. As is our practice, we have chosen wines which properly reflect the local 'goût de terroir', from small but quality conscious growers.

| Saumur - Domaine de la Paleine For over a century, the 'Domaine de la Paleine' has been producing wines from Saumur at the Puy Notre Dame. Three years ago, Laurence and Marc Vincent, in love with the Loire Valley, took over the running of the estate. Patrick Vivelleau, the wine master, controls the production of the different wines. The wine cellars run for one mile underneath the "Tuffeau", an easy-draining limestone soil. Here, at the perfect temperature of 12 degrees, lie more than 100,000 bottles of vintage wines of various Saumur appellations.
